This qualification is relevant to educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and holiday programs. It supports the implementation of an approved learning framework and may be undertaken through direct supervision or autonomously.
The qualification includes 19 units of competency and is delivered through classroom delivery. Class attendance is compulsory. Learning and assessment reflects requirements in real life educator roles. This includes assessment of your practical skills with children. Students need to be engaged in work, either paid or unpaid, with children and are required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in a licensed and registered education and care service with children up to 12 years of age.
Students can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) if they meet the eligibility requirements.
It is a requirement of the Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care that you hold English language and literacy skills to a determined level. This will be assessed using the CPLE Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment.
