What we do

This program aims to bring parents and carers of young children together and provide them with activities and resources to help them with their parenting.The program offers a network of support, including a parenting library, Internet access and information on local services.


The focus of our program is on the importance of the early years and strengthening families to give their children the best possible start.

Richardson Family Links Activities and Services

  •  The Richardson Family Links Resource Room offers a Parent and Child Library and FREE internet access

     

  • Grandparents and Kinship Carers Support Group

    We are seeking expressions of interest to commence a support group for grandparents and kinship carers.  Kinship care is provided by a person who is a relative or a close friend who is considered a family member.  The proposed Support Group will meet on a Tuesday from 1.00 - 2.30 pm for coffee, cake and a chat in the Family Links Room.  If you are interested in learning more about this group, please telephone Chaylee Brikcius at Richardson Family Links on 6292 7488 or click on the email link.

 

  • Women's Coffee and Craft Group

    Come to a friendly and relaxed women's craft group every Monday from 9.30 am - 11.30 am.  We are situated in the Richardson Child Care and Education Centre, Family Links Resource Room (May Gibbs Close, Richardson).

 

  • Richardson "Paint and Play"

    A facilitated playgroup conducted in a local park.  Click Here to view the flyer for 2010 dates and details.

  •  Various child-related activities including music and physical play programs

  • Family Links @Richardson Early Childhood Centre

    The two services work together enriching and complementing the educational program and care for children and their families at the Richardson Early Childhood Service.

    • The activities include:
    • "Kids at Play" -  an active physical play program
    • "Music and Moves" - children join in learning new songs with our guitarist musician
    • International cooking - the children participate in cooking international dishes and - learn about different world cultures
    • Community visits - the children, staff and families visit a local retirement village and share music, stories and play activities
    • Visits to the local preschool
    • Nature based excursions
    • "Caring for nature" - the children and staff maintain a giant Stick insect habitat.
    • Regular interest based events, such as outings to children’s theatre productions, exotic pet shows and story telling
