Volunteer Drivers Wanted
Do you want to volunteer and help in your community?
We have vacancies for volunteers to join our friendly team of drivers that assist members of our community, who are frail elderly or have mobility restrictions, attend medical and social appointments.
Our clients are based in the Tuggeranong and Weston Creek areas.
Volunteers use their own car and can claim reimbursement of car expenses, including travel to and from their own home. As a volunteer you can choose your availability. Our volunteers receive training and on-going support, and receive regular newsletters and invitations to social activities.

NuSkills Learning and Development
Our Board of Directors is delighted to announce the establishment of NuSkills Learning & Development on 1 July 2008, a new Communities@Work service. NuSkills is the result of a merger between AXIS Development Inc and Train.2.Work.
Nuskills:
- provides clients with an integrated professional service
- is a nationally accredited Registered Training Organisation, and
- provides specialized training and expertise in the Community Services and Health Industries.

Ngunnawal Early Chlidhood Centre
Communities@Work has taken on the operations of Ngunnawal Children's Services located in Waganeen Avenue Ngunnawal, from 1 July 2008.
The centre will be known as the 'Ngunnawal Early Childhood Centre' with the existing staff agreeing to transfer their employment to Communities@Work . A Manager will be appointed to the centre following a recruitment process.
Communities@Work welcomes Ngunnawal families, children and staff to our network of child care centers and looks forward to the opportunity of providing services to the Gungahlin community.
OzHarvest delivers 25,000 meals in Canberra
OzHarvest rescues excess food from caterers, markets and other food outlets and delivers it, free of charge, to shelters, refuges and charities that feed disadvantaged men, women and children across Canberra and Queanbeyan. OzHarvest has now delivered over 25,000 meals to 34 charities and has over 40 regular donors including the National Convention Centre, AIS, ESS AFP College and the Southside Farmers Market. OzHarvest is supported and managed in Canberra by Communities@Work and has a team of dedicated volunteers who help in its day to day operations. OzHarvest Canberra has rescued over 7000 kilograms of food from being dumped as landfill since it began operating in Canberra in February 2008.
OzHarvest Canberra was officially launched on Friday 20 June, by the Member for Canberra, Annette Ellis MP, at The Salvation Army Canberra Recovery Services in Fyshwick - who benefit from the OzHarvest program.

SuperGrands
If you enjoy meeting people, have a sense of humor and have 1-3 hours a week to spare, come and join our team of SuperGrands!
SuperGrands are volunteers who share their lifelong knowledge and experience with young parents and families. They provide one on one mentoring in skills such as household budgeting, easy healthy meals, organising the home and routines, gardening and home maintenance.
FREE training and ongoing support is provided. As part of the volunteers team, SuperGrands receive regular newsletters and invitations to social get togethers.
